Wildlife Sanctuary
USD33 per person
Wildlife is everywhere in Costa Rica, and it’s especially abundant in Uvita!
However, if you want to have a closer look at some animals and do some good while you’re at it, do not miss the Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary during your stay on the Costa Ballena.
Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary is a rescue center for injured animals. Trained caretakers support the animals during their recovery period, and the sanctuary always tries to release the animals to the wild once they are healed and have a chance to survive on their own. During the tour, you will learn many interesting facts about the animal species, their personal stories, and the sanctuary’s conservation needs. You can expect to see spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, sloths, parrots, toucans, raptors, anteaters, raccoons, and kinkajous (even though that often changes).
Please note that the sanctuary is closed on Mondays and only offers guided tours with a fixed schedule at 9am, 11am, and 1pm on the days when they are open.
