Uvita waterfall at the end of the dry season

Uvita Waterfall

Uvita Waterfall

Considered one of the main attractions of Uvita, this waterfall is very picturesque and ideally located close to the town center.

Whether you are visiting Uvita during the wet season or even the dry season, this will always make for a nice photoshoot opportunity. There is also a bigger swimming hole where you can swim and jump all year round. Right in the middle of the rainforest but still close to everything, this is a must-do in Uvita if you don’t plan on visiting other bigger waterfalls in the area.

The access from the parking area is very well maintained with a few stairs and platforms. You will reach the waterfall in less than 5 minutes. However, we would just not recommend it for people with higher mobility issues as some of the steps are quite narrow and steep.

Take the road that leaves from El Gollo and the BCR (Banco de Costa Rica). Keep going straight until the paved road becomes a dirt road. Then, just after that, you will need to turn left and keep going up. In total from the main highway or the BCR, it’s about 1 mile away. The parking lot is located before the ticket office on your right.

Like in any other unsupervised area in Costa Rica, remember not to leave any valuables in your car.
