unspoiled landscape of a waterfall in the jungle

Pozo Azul

Pozo Azul Waterfall

This is a beautiful waterfall which is very authentic, not so popular (yet) and quite easy to access.

Located only 5 minutes from the highway in Domicalito, do not wait any longer and give it a try! Swimming is definitely possible here for anyone and there is even a tarzan swing for the most adventurous!

Beware of flash floads during the rainy season and after a heavy tropical rain. Also, please consider that water levels depend on the season and that the waterfall will be thiner during the dry season.

Good to Know

Easy. Two minutes going down on an irregular trail made of a dozen steps, mud, rocks and roots.
None. Free access.
Usually free parking spaces on the street but there might be someone looking after your car. In this case, 1,000 to 2,000 crc will make him happy.

Access is possible if you take a turn at the football pitch in Dominicalito, then, turn right, cross the river and keep going straight for about 200 meters or 650 feet. Where the road widdens, you can park on the left side of the road and the path to the waterfall is on your right (going down) with a sign showing “Pozo Azul” next to it. Like in any other unsupervised area in Costa Rica, remember not to leave any valuables in your car. Then go down the little path to the waterfall and have fun!
