Pozo Azul

Pozo Azul Waterfall

This is a beautiful waterfall which is not so popular (yet) and quite easy to access.

Located only 5 minutes from the highway in Domicalito, it’s a great stop just outside of town. Swimming is pleasant here for all ages, and there is even a Tarzan swing for the most adventurous!

Beware of flash floods during the rainy season and after heavy tropical rains. Also, please keep in mind that water levels depend on the season and that the waterfall will be less powerful during the dry season.

Good to Know

Accessibility
Easy. Two minutes going down on an irregular trail made of a dozen steps, mud, rocks and roots.
Fee
None. Free access.
Parking
There are usually free parking spaces on the street. If a local is monitoring the parking area, donating CRC1,000 to CRC2,000 will make him happy.

Access

Turn off the main road (Costanera 34) at the football pitch in Dominicalito, then turn right, cross the river, and keep going straight for about 200 meters (650 feet). Where the road widens, you can park on the left side, and the path to the waterfall is on your right (going down) with a sign showing “Pozo Azul” next to it.

Like in any other unsupervised area in Costa Rica, remember not to leave any valuables in your car.
