The Whale’s Tail Beach in Uvita (Southbound) and Isla Ballena are 2 possible options for some decent snorkeling close to the shore during the dry season.

However, nothing compares to the rich sea life of the waters around Caño Island. Famous for its location on a corridor for multiple species of fish and marine mammals, this remote island is the best snorkeling experience you will find in Costa Rica. A full-day trip is the best way to experience the well-preserved coral reefs and colorful sceneries brimming with sea turtles, rays, eels, and lots of tropical fish.

If you are lucky, you’ll get a glimpse of the bottlenose dolphins and white-tip sharks that are also frequent visitors to the island. The boat ride (about 1.5 hours each way) is also a great opportunity to spot humpback whales or dolphins.

Lunch will be included in your tour, as well as the equipment, the entrance fees to all protected areas, and 2 different spots for snorkeling near the island.
