Turtle Reserve
USD0 per person
This is a scientific reserve where you can, on some occasions, witness the work of its volunteers.
A visit to the reserve of Ojochal, just a 15-minute drive south of Uvita, is the perfect occasion to see some turtle nests and baby turtles during your stay in Costa Rica.
Reserva Playa Tortuga is an amazing initiative that began over 10 years ago. Their sea turtle conservation program will allow you to have a glance at the different stages of the Olive Ridley nesting process.
Keep in mind that the nesting season typically runs from June to December with September and October being the best months to witness this incredible phenomenon.
The reserve does not welcome visitors with a fixed schedule as it will depend on the day-to-day operations of the conservation program. Your best bet is to check their social media pages regularly for the announcement of dates when they’ll release baby turtles into the ocean.
Visitors do not have to pay for this 1- to 2-hour authentic adventure. However, we encourage you to support this honorable work with a donation.
